Two Tank Trips makes no representation or warranty of any kind, express or implied, about the completeness, accuracy, reliability, suitability or availability of anything on this site. Any reliance you place on it is strictly at your own risk. In no event will we be liable for any loss or damage, including without limitation indirect or consequential loss, arising out of the use of this site.

Travel information goes out of date

This is the single most important sentence on the page: verify every fee, permit rule, reservation window, road status, opening time and border requirement with the official source before you book or depart. Park entrance fees change. Timed-entry and permit systems are introduced, modified and withdrawn from one season to the next. Roads close for rockfall, snow, fire and flood, sometimes for a whole year. Ferry and shuttle schedules change with the season. Restaurants close. A guide written honestly in one year can mislead in the next, and no amount of care on our part prevents that.

Where we could not verify a number at the time of writing, we wrote the guidance without the number rather than inventing one. Where a number does appear, it was accurate when the page was last reviewed, and the review date is printed on the page. Treat it as a planning estimate, not a quotation.

Official sources to check

• The National Park Service page for the specific park, for fees, timed entry, permits, closures and alerts.
• Recreation.gov for reservations, permits and lotteries, including the exact release date and time.
• Your state's department of transportation road condition service, and the equivalent in the state you are driving to.
• The U.S. Department of State country information page for any international destination, for entry requirements and current advisories.
• The airline, the rental company and the accommodation directly, for anything you have paid for.
• The National Weather Service, and for the West in summer, current air quality and fire information.

Passports, visas and identification

Entry requirements are set by governments and change without reference to travel websites. Passport validity rules, visa and electronic authorization requirements, onward ticket rules and vaccination requirements are your responsibility to confirm with the destination's own authority and with the U.S. Department of State. The same applies to domestic identification requirements for air travel. We describe how these systems generally work; we do not certify that any specific traveler will be admitted anywhere.

Costs, and why they are ranges

Prices are quoted in U.S. dollars and are estimates for planning. Airfares move daily. Lodging is seasonal and often dynamic. Gas prices vary by state and by week. Sales and lodging taxes are added at checkout and differ by state, county and city, so no price here is tax-inclusive. Currency conversion for international destinations depends on the rate and the card you use. Build a buffer.

Outdoor risk

Hiking, driving mountain roads, swimming in open water, visiting high elevation and traveling in remote places carry real risk of injury and death. Trail mileage and elevation gain are given as published or measured, but conditions on the ground govern: snow, ice, heat, lightning, flash flood, rockfall, wildlife and your own fitness. You are responsible for assessing whether an activity is appropriate for you and your party, for carrying water and navigation, for telling someone your plan, and for turning around. Nothing on this site is a substitute for current conditions, local ranger advice or your own judgment. We are not responsible for what happens on a trip you chose to take.

Travel insurance, including medical coverage abroad and evacuation coverage, is a decision to take with a licensed agent or insurer. We describe categories of coverage in general terms. We are not licensed to sell, recommend or interpret an insurance policy, and nothing here is an offer of insurance or a statement about what any policy covers.

Accessibility of the places we write about

Where we describe a trail, a building or a route as accessible, we are repeating what the operator publishes or what we observed. Standards vary and surfaces degrade. If accessibility is decisive for your trip, confirm directly with the site before you commit.
